Some Apps/Games that I use.

Image
Once I got my quest set up, I had to decide what games to get.  There were many to chose from free and paid.  While you might think you may not want to pay money for a game, it might be worth it.  Some of the free games only are for trial memberships.  You would be required to pay for a monthly subscription to get the full features.  Most of the paid games or just a pay-one-price.  Something to consider. Some of the apps I downloaded first include: Netflix Prime Video Big Screen YouTube VR Chat Rec Room AltVR Metaverse Fishing Guided Meditation Tripp I started thinking that there may be an exercise app that would be beneficial for me.  I had already purchased Beat Saber.  So I decided to explore more.

Oculus

Throughout the years I kept looking into VR headsets, seeing if the prices would go down and making sure that I would meet the requirements to use it. I heard that with these you would need at least a decent smartphone and either a computer or or gaming system such as a Play Station 5.  While I do have a computer, it is not VR ready. I kept hearing about the Oculus and kept researching it.  Eventually, I heard about the Oculus Quest and decided that is what I wanted.  It was just a matter of saving up the money.  Of course, during that time, I was struggling financially.  This was a couple of years ago.   I did have a smart phone.  After years of flip phones, I did splurge on a Walmart Straight Talk phone.  Then two years ago I purchased a T-Mobile phone.  This phone, even though I had put the Oculus on hold and wasn't thinking about it at the time, would be compatible for the headset. Sometime after I got this phone, I heard...

The World of VR

Image
You may be familiar with Virtual Reality or VR for short. I first got interested in VR back in the early 2000s.  I was looking in a tech type catalog or magazine and I noticed a pair of glasses where it stimulates being in a movie theater. Well that interested me.  However, there were several reasons why I didn't get that amazing piece of technology.  The first reason was the price.   It cost over $1,000, something that I didn't have at the time or for quite a while afterwards.  Plus I would have needed to purchase a top of the line computer and maybe a phone.  I don't think I even had one yet or it may have been a flip phone. As I continued thinking about getting something like this, I had to put it on the back burner, because of the cost.  Maybe the price would go down and since I had bills to pay, this purchase was not a priority. Eventually, I went from my flap phone to a smart phone just a few years ago and while at the store on time,...

A Small Confession

Image
While it is true that I have ridden over 600 miles since the end of December and taken nice snapshots, it is not true that I have been to most of these places.  As a matter of fact, I don't even leave my house to ride. You may be thinking an exercise bike is fine but how do you not get bored?  I will explain a little of that in a bit but want to talk a little about my earlier bicycling habit in my younger years  In my early twenties and prior, I used to ride all the time.  I enjoyed exploring different areas in my neighborhood.  As I got older, I got into longer distances and seriously thought about exploring different parts of the United States.  I even thought about racing. Things such as finances, however, got in my way.  I would need to get a better bike and maybe several different bikes, depending on the terrain I would ride on.  I would need camping gear, travel bags and more, just to name a few. Then other things got in my...

Places I Have Been To

Image
These are some of the places I have went bike riding since I started just after Christmas of 2021 Montauk Point Lake Placid Salt Lake City Montana Calgary Utah France Italy Norway Japan Lake Tahoe Now wait a minute!  (Imagine hearing the sound a record makes when you put you hand on the turntable to stop it from playing.) How can anybody travel all over like that in just under two months?  You might be thinking that I'm either very rich or am in a serious training program. I am neither,  I just have a

A Change in Attitude

I decided to continue riding my bicycle.  I would make myself ride at least 5 miles before stopping. I didn't stop. What I saw just astounded me.  It was just a street with oak trees lined up on each side.  It was so beautiful that I wished I had brought my camera.   Well next time I would bring it since I would continue to ride my bicycle.  However, this time, while I would ride for my health I would also be riding to discover God's beautiful world on the bicycle.

Pedaling Away and Bored

I am riding along with sweat running down my body.  I have only finished a mile and have 19 miles to reach my daily goal. I have set a goal to ride at least four days a week and have a weekly goal of 80 miles. I am not going to make it.  I thought it would be exciting.  Even on a fairly flat road, I am finding bicycle riding very boring  I need to change my attitude I think to myself if I want to meet my goals.  I am not riding a bicycle to be in any race.  I am riding it to get some exercise and to lose some pounds-about 30 to be exact
