Oculus
I heard that with these you would need at least a decent smartphone and either a computer or or gaming system such as a Play Station 5. While I do have a computer, it is not VR ready.
I kept hearing about the Oculus and kept researching it. Eventually, I heard about the Oculus Quest and decided that is what I wanted. It was just a matter of saving up the money. Of course, during that time, I was struggling financially. This was a couple of years ago.
I did have a smart phone. After years of flip phones, I did splurge on a Walmart Straight Talk phone. Then two years ago I purchased a T-Mobile phone. This phone, even though I had put the Oculus on hold and wasn't thinking about it at the time, would be compatible for the headset.
Sometime after I got this phone, I heard about the Oculus Quest 2. All I needed was the phone for the initial setup. I finally decided that I was going to get it. At that time my financial situation was 200% improved.
July of 2021, my daughter and I went to our local Target and Walmart to get one. There were none in stock. Go figure. So I tried to order it online. They were not available. Go figure again. We did find out there was a recall because users were having skin irritations from the foam piece and the company was adding a silicone covering.
The end of August, they were available once again. I was originally going to get the one with larger memory but they weren't available yet, so I get the one with something like 152 gigs.
Initial setup was quick.
I do not regret this purchase.
